Upcoming Purple Line Events

Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley is scheduled to make a decision regarding the route for the Purple Line in early 2009.  Below is the schedule of events and hearings leading up to that decision.

October 17 – release of MTA’s four-year study known as the Alternatives Analysis/Draft Environmental Impact Statement (AA/DEIS)

November 15 – 22 – MTA hearings on AA/DEIS, at four locations

     November 15 – New Carrollton

     November 18 – National 4H Center, Chevy Chase

     November 19 – University of Maryland, Ritchie Coliseum

     November 22 – Montgomery   College, Takoma Park

January 8 – Planning Board hearing and recommendation to Council on Locally Preferred Alternative (whether to build, which mode (BRT or LRT), and route)

January 14 – end of 90-day public comment period for AA/DEIS

January 22, 2-5 pm – County Council Transportation and Environment Committee work session

January 27County Council recommendation to Governor on Locally Preferred Alternative

February – Governor selects Locally Preferred Alternative
